--------------------------------------------------- SECURITYFOCUS JOBS - NEW OPPORTUNITY --------------------------------------------------- JOB DESCRIPTION --------------------------------------------------- Position: Security Architect Location: Salisbury, , United Kingdom Type: Contract Closing Date: 2008-10-12 ENTERPRISE ARCHITECT (Security Cleared) Salisbury Contract: 120 Days The Enterprise Architect will have three primary architecture functions as follows: Technology: networks, data centres, data hosting and end user technology. Information: information and data management, enterprise applications and bespoke applications. Compliance – security, testing and in-service management. The Enterprise Architect will also provide business alignment, IT strategic direction and technical assurance, advice and guidance within the department and across the client organisation The primary purpose of the Enterprise Architect - Technology (EA Technology) is to promote the focus and vision for all activities within the Client’s Technology architecture space. Towards this purpose the EA Technology: Owns the strategic and tactical direction for Technology aspects of enterprise architecture and its associated products. Its creation and management in accordance with MOD policy, procedures and guidance. Acts as the Product Owner and portfolio manager producing and maintaining a technology roadmap - with underlying product decisions - that includes the introduction, modification, change and withdrawal of technologies/products, including change control. Promotes Technology on behalf of the department whilst enforcing the role of the department within the Client through Expert knowledge, Excellence and Evangelism. Develops a Technology functional linkage across the EAO, within the department and outwards across the Client to ensure that the emerging IT Vision and Strategy is delivered. Specifies and helps procure technology products including associated software and services. Provides technical assurance to the Team/Department over programme and project technical strategy, design and testing. NB: Fully detailed spec will be available prior to submission of CV. JOB REQUIREMENTS --------------------------------------------------- Essential Experience: • Demonstrated high level technical competence in data centres and hosting: • A broad understanding of various client and server operating systems including Microsoft Windows and Unix, with some exposure to Linux. • Database management systems, application servers and development tools predominantly based on Microsoft and Oracle technologies. • SANs, servers, racks, media libraries, storage, virtualisation and backup. • A good understanding and working knowledge of: • Networks - LAN, WAN, MAN, telephony networks, telephony applications, PSTN, VoIP, mobile voice, wireless connectivity (inc GPRS, 3G etc) contracts, routing, network switching and carrier technologies (ATM, Frame, broadband, MPLS etc) • End User Technology – User Access Devices, laptops and PDAs to support static and mobile strategies. • Proven ability to influence at a senior level, including successfully facilitating joint decision-making. • Broad knowledge of external IT developments and emerging best practice, including strategy, architecture and planning. • Good technical team management skills and the capacity and self-motivation required to meet the demands of tight timelines and rapidly evolving priorities. • Good technical authoring skills and experience of defining and documenting technical procedures. • Excellent communication and co-ordination skills. • At least 10 years business management experience and 8 years within the Information Technology specialism. • At least 10 years experience of working with an IT organisation and 6 years experience of managing a team of technical resources DESIRED SKILLS • An understanding of application development and testing techniques. • Experience of working within a Defence environment Must hold, or be able to attain UK Security Clearance (DV) CONTACT --------------------------------------------------- Applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
