--------------------------------------------------- SECURITYFOCUS JOBS - NEW OPPORTUNITY --------------------------------------------------- JOB DESCRIPTION --------------------------------------------------- Position: Senior Software Engineer Location: Culver City, California, United States Type: Permanent F/T Closing Date: 2008-09-30 Department Overview: Security Technology Group is an R&D and engineering group that develops core technologies and common infrastructure for Symantec Consumer and Enterprise Security products. Some of the exciting components include the anti-virus engine, the anti-spyware/malware engine, firewall, etc. We work closely with Symantec’s industry-leading Security Response organization and the Symantec Research Lab on the latest cutting edge technologies on malware/virus detections/remediation on alls level of the Operating system. Responsibilities This is a senior level professional software engineer position on a dynamic team in the world’s leading internet security Software Company. Candidates will be responsible for the designs, development and maintenance of complex software components, including anti-malware, Internet Security middleware and engine level components in a given product with an overall business objective of producing high quality code according to a given product's functional specifications. Participates in every step of the lifecycle of software process and in code reviews. With little or no supervision, completes analysis of partially defined tasks, completes major portions of complex functional specs/design documents or entire documents and completes development and/or maintenance assignments. Collaborates within and across groups in writing functional and design specifications, development schedules and user interface specifications. Identifies and suggests solutions to problems of significant scope. Assists QA partners in generating engineering test plans. This is a professional individual contributor level position with no supervisory responsibilities; incumbents may mentor entry and intermediate level Software Engineers and/or provide technical leadership to a small project team. JOB REQUIREMENTS --------------------------------------------------- •Bachelor's Degree or equivalent; •Min 4-6 years' demonstrated design and development experience; •fluency in C++ and other object-oriented programming languages; •knowledge of security software technologies; •Windows system level programming such as programming in Windows services or device drivers; •Deep knowledge about the Windows OS, such as memory management, I/O, networking is preferred. •Windows kernel level programming experience would be a plus. In addition the ideal candidate has the following qualities, skills and experience: - action-oriented - flexible - able to work with minimum supervision and set priorities - able to follow through on implementation projects - strong problem solving skills - excellent written and verbal communication skills - advanced debugging skills - experience working in a team environment.
