I have started working on ... or I must rather say one of my padawan
worked on it last summer during his training period.

The idea we have is to provide a commoon API, which is not new since
it is already was libnet does. The difference here is that libnet
handles diffrent operating systems, whereas the 802.11 should handle
kernel modules as there is not yet a common API between operating
systems, eg on Linux, you can use hostap or wlan to have a 802.11
access. So there is a need to look at available modules on Linux,
*BSD, windows, ... what is possible to define a common API.

If other people are interested, I'd like to manage and centralize all
this.
