We have quite a few colocated servers and were in the same possition
as you. However, i did manage to test out and put together an upgrade
using yum to move to CentOS ( www.centos.org ), which is RHEL, minus
the RH. I've since successfully migrated all of my legacy redhat OS's
using the method I provided here:
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=276534

There are also a couple other RHEL rebuilds that I am aware of:

www.taolinux.org
www.whiteboxlinux.org ( might be .com ? ) <- Single developer, little
to no community support

As far as i know this method can not be used to upgrade to RHEL
itself. It may be possible if you build your own local yum repository,
but i've not tried and know of nobody that has.

As we do not require support from redhat we're very comfortable with
our decision.
