From Microsoft, this is generally easier to implement than Samba on Unix, but it does make some changes in the way Windows handles files in the NTFS file system, read everything carefully. On the other hand, it is free, supported by Microsoft and it does work. You can mount Unix nfs shares using Windows Explorer and NFS mount syntax (Windows Explorer/Tools/Map Network Drive). http://www.microsoft.com/windows/sfu/productinfo/overview/sfufaq.asp As far as security goes, it depends, like anything else. I do not think Samba is inheritantly more secure than NFS, but NFS, in its default configuration does not authenticate users, just systems (user authentication can be added in a number of ways) where Samba does do user authentication (just not well integrated into Unix or Windows in my opinion).
