PacSec 2008 CALL FOR PAPERS

World Security Pros To Converge on Japan

=A0 =A0 TOKYO, Japan -- To address the increasing importance of information
=A0 =A0 security in Japan, the best known figures in the international
=A0 =A0 security industry will get together with leading Japanese
=A0 =A0 researchers to share best practices and technology. The most=20
=A0 =A0 significant new discoveries about computer network hack attacks=20
=A0 =A0 and defenses will be presented at the sixth annual PacSec conferenc=
e.

=A0 =A0 The PacSec meeting provides an opportunity for foreign specialists =
=A0
=A0 =A0 to be exposed to Japanese innovation and markets and collaborate=20
=A0 =A0 on practical solutions to computer security issues. In an informal
=A0 =A0 setting with a mixture of material bilingually translated in both
=A0 =A0 English and Japanese the eminent technologists can socialize and
=A0 =A0 attend training sessions.

=A0 =A0 Announcing the opportunity to submit papers for the PacSec 2008
=A0 =A0 network security training conference. The conference will be held
=A0 =A0 November 12/13th in Tokyo at the Aoyama Diamond Hall above
=A0 =A0 Omotesando station. The conference focuses on emerging
=A0 =A0 information security tutorials - it is a bridge between the
=A0 =A0 international and Japanese information security technology
=A0 =A0 communities..

=A0 =A0 Please make your paper proposal submissions before September 1st,
=A0 =A0 2008. Slides for the papers must be submitted for translation by
=A0 =A0 October 1, 2008.

=A0 =A0 A some invited papers have been confirmed, but a limited number of
=A0 =A0 speaking slots are still available. The conference is responsible
=A0 =A0 for travel and accomodations for the speakers. If you have a=20
=A0 =A0 proposal for a tutorial session then please email a synopsis of=20
=A0 =A0 the material and your biography, papers and, speaking background=20
=A0 =A0 to secwest08 [at] pacsec.jp . Tutorials are one hour in length, but=
=20
=A0 =A0 with simultaneous translation should be approximately 45 minutes=20
=A0 =A0 in English, or Japanese. Only slides will be needed for the October=
=20
=A0 =A0 paper deadline, full text does not have to be submitted.

=A0 =A0 The PacSec conference consists of tutorials on technical details
=A0 =A0 about current issues, innovative techniques and best practices in t=
he
=A0 =A0 information security realm. The audiences are a multi-national mix
=A0 =A0 of professionals involved on a daily basis with security work: secu=
rity
=A0 =A0 product vendors, programmers, security officers, and network
=A0 =A0 administrators. We give preference to technical details and
=A0 =A0 education for a technical audience.

=A0 =A0 The conference itself is a single track series of presentations in a
=A0 =A0 lecture theater environment. The presentations offer speakers the
=A0 =A0 opportunity to showcase on-going research and collaborate with peers
=A0 =A0 while educating and highlighting advancements in security products
=A0 =A0 and techniques. The focus is on innovation, tutorials, and education
=A0 =A0 instead of product pitches. Some commercial content is tolerated,
=A0 =A0 but it needs to be backed up by a technical presenter - either givi=
ng=20
=A0 =A0 a valuable tutorial and best practices instruction or detailing
=A0 =A0 significant new technology in the products.

=A0 =A0 Paper proposals should consist of the following information:
=A0 =A0 =A01. Presenter, and geographical location (country of
=A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 origin/passport) and contact info (e-mail, postal address,
=A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 phone, fax).
=A0 =A0 =A02. Employer and/or affiliations.
=A0 =A0 =A03. Brief biography, list of publications and papers.
=A0 =A0 =A04. Any significant presentation and educational
=A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 experience/background.
=A0 =A0 =A05. Topic synopsis, Proposed paper title, and a one paragraph
=A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 description.
=A0 =A0 =A06. Reason why this material is innovative or significant or an
=A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 important tutorial.
=A0 =A0 =A07. Optionally, any samples of prepared material or outlines
=A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 ready.
=A0 =A0 =A08. Will you have full text available or only slides?
=A0 =A0 =A09. Please list any other publications or conferences where
=A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 this material has been or will be published/submitted.
=A0 =A0 =A010. Do you have any special demo or network requirements
=A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 for your presentation?

=A0 =A0 Please include the plain text version of this information in
=A0 =A0 your email as well as any file, pdf, sxw, ppt, or html
=A0 =A0 attachments.

=A0 =A0 Please forward the above information to secwest08 [at]
=A0 =A0 pacsec.jp to be considered for placement on the speaker
=A0 =A0 roster, or have your lightning talk scheduled. The deadline
