CanSecWest CALL FOR PAPERS

=A0 =A0 VANCOUVER, Canada -- The tenth annual CanSecWest applied
=A0 =A0 technical security conference - where the eminent figures
=A0 =A0 in the international security industry will get together
=A0 =A0 share best practices and technology - will be held in
=A0 =A0 downtown Vancouver at the the Sheraton Wall Centre on
=A0 =A0 March 18-20, 2009. The most significant new discoveries
=A0 =A0 about computer network hack attacks and defenses,
=A0 =A0 commercial security solutions, and pragmatic real world
=A0 =A0 security experience will be presented in a series of
=A0 =A0 informative tutorials.

=A0 =A0 The CanSecWest meeting provides international researchers
=A0 =A0 a relaxed, comfortable environment to learn from
=A0 =A0 informative tutorials on key developments in security
=A0 =A0 technology, and collaborate and socialize with their peers
=A0 =A0 in one of the world's most scenic cities - a short drive
=A0 =A0 away from one of North America's top skiing areas.

=A0 =A0 The CanSecWest conference will also feature the
=A0 =A0 availability of the Security Masters Dojo expert network
=A0 =A0 security sensei instructors, and their advanced, and
=A0 =A0 intermediate, hands-on training courses - featuring small
=A0 =A0 class sizes and practical application excercises to
=A0 =A0 maximize information transfer.

=A0 =A0 We would like to announce the opportunity to submit
=A0 =A0 papers, and/or lightning talk proposals for selection by
=A0 =A0 the CanSecWest technical review committee. This year we
=A0 =A0 will be doing one hour talks, and some shorter talk
=A0 =A0 sessions.

=A0 =A0 Please make your paper proposal submissions before
=A0 =A0 December 8th, 2008.

=A0 =A0 Some invited papers have been confirmed, but a limited
=A0 =A0 number of speaking slots are still available. The
=A0 =A0 conference is responsible for travel and accomodations for
=A0 =A0 the speakers. If you have a proposal for a tutorial
=A0 =A0 session then please email a synopsis of the material and
=A0 =A0 your biography, papers and, speaking background to
=A0 =A0 secwest09 [at] cansecwest.com . Only slides will be needed
=A0 =A0 for the March paper deadline, full text does not have to
=A0 =A0 be submitted - but will be accepted if available. This
=A0 =A0 year we will be opening up the presentation guidelines to
=A0 =A0 include talks not in English (particularly Chinese) which
=A0 =A0 we will offer to translate for the speaker if they are not
=A0 =A0 a native English speaker.

=A0 =A0 The CanSecWest 2009 conference consists of tutorials on
=A0 =A0 technical details about current issues, innovative
=A0 =A0 techniques and best practices in the information security
=A0 =A0 realm. The audiences are a multi-national mix of
=A0 =A0 professionals involved on a daily basis with security
=A0 =A0 work: security product vendors, programmers, security
=A0 =A0 officers, and network administrators. We give preference
=A0 =A0 to technical details and new education for a technical
=A0 =A0 audience.

=A0 =A0 The conference itself is a single track series of
=A0 =A0 presentations in a lecture theater environment. The
=A0 =A0 presentations offer speakers the opportunity to showcase
=A0 =A0 on-going research and collaborate with peers while
=A0 =A0 educating and highlighting advancements in security
=A0 =A0 products and techniques. The focus is on innovation,
=A0 =A0 tutorials, and education instead of product pitches. Some
=A0 =A0 commercial content is tolerated, but it needs to be backed
=A0 =A0 up by a technical presenter - either giving a valuable
=A0 =A0 tutorial and best practices instruction or detailing
=A0 =A0 significant new technology in the products.

=A0 =A0 Paper proposals should consist of the following
=A0 =A0 information:
=A0 =A0 =A01. Presenter, and geographical location (country of
=A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 origin/passport) and contact info (e-mail, postal
=A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 address, phone, fax).
=A0 =A0 =A02. Employer and/or affiliations.
=A0 =A0 =A03. Brief biography, list of publications and papers.
=A0 =A0 =A04. Any significant presentation and educational
=A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 experience/background.
=A0 =A0 =A05. Topic synopsis, Proposed paper title, and a one
=A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 paragraph description.
=A0 =A0 =A06. Reason why this material is innovative or significant
=A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 or an important tutorial.
=A0 =A0 =A07. Optionally, any samples of prepared material or
=A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 outlines ready.
=A0 =A0 =A08. Will you have full text available or only slides?
=A0 =A0 =A09. Language of preference for submission.
=A0 =A0 10. Please list any other publications or conferences
=A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 where this material has been or will be
=A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 published/submitted.

=A0 =A0 Please include the plain text version of this information
=A0 =A0 in your email as well as any file, pdf, sxw, ppt, or html
