The problem of tape degradation can be avoided somewhat by keepning a copy on disks as well as tape, and possibly a DVD or similar. Also, you can write the data to multiple tapes. Storing the tapes in optimal conditions would also extend their lifetime. ____________________________________ Robert S. Some considerations in log storage. Are you going to encrypt the data? Logs have sensitive information. If you encrypt the data - are you going to store this on tapes?
