How to start reading nessus source code?

Hi, everyone!

I've used nessus for some time and found it a good security scanner . 

I'd like to get an inside view of nessus and want to start off reading the source code. Since I've seen no documents about details of nessus design, I have no idea where to start. Would anyone be so kind to give me some advise?
