The code in the branch works for MySQL, and has been tested by a few people. The documentations (doc/database/) should be complete enough (except for the diagrams, which are not up-to-date). If you have any issues with compilation or making it work send it to the list and we'll try to help you out (I don't have any FreeBSD box around though). What specific issues are you having?
