Nessus 3.2.1 installation hangs during installation for Debian 4.0 (Etch)

I am trying, and failing, to install Nessus 3.2.1 on Debian 4.0 (Etch). I had originally installed Nessus 2.2.8 using apt-get, attempted to upgrade it with the package downloaded from the Nessus website. Uninstalled the 2.2.8 version using apt-get. The same problem occurred both before and after uninstalling the 2.2.8 version. Any suggestions? Is there an archive for this list? I wanted to see if the same question had been raised in the past, but could not see anywhere to search.
