Adrian, If you're really just interested in AntiVirus stuff, then: 1) Make sure you are using a Windows account that can read the registry on the systems you're scanning 2) Limit the scan to ports (port_range) to "137-139,445" 3) Turn off all plugin families except "Windows" (leave port scanners set to partial), and make sure you auto-enable dependencies (auto_enable_dependencies), and set silent dependencies (silent_dependencies) to "yes" if you want to strip out the noise from dependent plugins. I'm currently scanning with John Scherff's custom plugins only but it's really slow, I believe some of my Nessus settings are not configured properly. Basically I'm trying to scan approx. 1100 machines - what are the best practice settings to use in such scenario? Like previously mentioned I'm only scanning for anti-virus service, version, parent server and definitions.
