Fred, Thanks for asking! We added this in Ncat 7.25BETA2 last year. Since Ncat is part of the Nmap suite, we did not feel it was necessary or useful to implement full port scanning, so -z only works with a single port number, just like Ncat always has. Multiple ports or port ranges are not supported.
