I'm sure devs with much more experience than me will chime in on this, but
from what I know, the gnmap format has been deprecated and while it will
never go away, will also never be updated.

I would also say adding an extra field to a long established format would
not go down well with a lot of people who have scripts build to parse it as
it currently stands.
