Hi folks!

This is to inform you that I have completed some works and released a
first edition of my */JPasswords /*program. It is in short a Java
password management program. You may visit the project under
http://sourceforge.net/projects/jpws/

Two things might be noteworth for this project.

First, I have changed my politics towards using the PWS datafile format.
For the time being, JPasswords rests on PWS files. I felt it is worth
making this step and giving the world a platform-independent small and
simple program to deal with existing databases and not having to rely on
any such experiments as constitutes the SWT environment, which I find
highly overrated. My intention for a later development is to offer a
second file format as an alternative usage, allowing for additional
application features and hopefully also for advanced security technology.

Second, along with the presented release of /*JPasswords */comes a
separate Java service package for accessing and dealing with PWS
datafiles. Its name is *KSE PWSLIB*. It allows any Java developments to
make use of PWS files within the limits of the current official data
format definition.

Finally I have to report about compatibility problems currently arising
from the not-up-to-date state of the PasswordSafe 2.11 version,
regarding the file format definition. The major problem lies in the
inability of 2.11 to handle the UTF-8 switch and format text
accordingly. I recommend the soon development of a version that can do this.
