You should be able to link against the Microsoft Layer for Unicode (aka: 
UNICOWS.DLL) to allow an application compiled with UNICODE to run 
everywhere.

However, in order to use MFC with it, I think you will need to rebuild MFC 
to use MSLU first:

The UNICOWS.DLL will only be required when PasswordSafe is run on a 
Win95/98/Me system.  When it is run on NT/2K/XP/2k3, it will run without 
the extra dependency.
