I started using PWSafe some years ago in a Win-only environment, but 
have moved to *nix OSes since. I did not want to migrate all passwords, 
so I use pwsafe.sourceforge.net to access the dat files in these 
environments. Works great.

Hope this saves some time - re-inventing the wheel takes too long ...
