A basic notion in modern crypto algorithm and protocol design is that brute-forcing the key should be the only way to compromise the cryptosystem, even in the face of known plaintext. In fact, a cryptosystem is considered weak if it can be compromised more easily by _chosen_ plaintext. -Bennett
