Get your security news from a reliable source. http://www.securiteam.com/mailinglist.html - - - - - - - - - nProtect:Netizen Arbitrary File Download Vulnerability ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SUMMARY A vulnerability in nProtect:Netizen allows web site authors to cause the ActiveX used by nProtect:Netizen to download an arbitrary file into a path he has specified. DETAILS Vulnerable Systems: * nProtect:Netizen version.2005.3.17.1 nProtect:Netizen is an ActiveX control designed to protect users from virus, unauthorized access, phishing, etc. nProtect:Netizen checks for possible updates to its ActiveX whenever it's launched. If nProtect:Netizen finds suitable updated, the program will try to download it. A malicious website administrator can cause the user to view a specially crafted web site that could cause him to download an arbitrary file into the path that the attacker specified via this update mechanism.
