  Novell GroupWise Messenger Accept-Language Buffer Overflow
------------------------------------------------------------------------

SUMMARY

" <http://www.novell.com/products/groupwise/> Novell GroupWise is a
complete collaboration software solution that provides information workers
with e-mail, calendaring, instant messaging, task management, and contact
and document management functions."

Improper length validation allows attackers to execute arbitrary code
using Novell GroupWise Messenger.

DETAILS

Vulnerable Systems:
 * Novell GroupWise Messenger 2

The specific flaw exists within the Novell Messaging Agent, a web server
that listens by default on TCP port 8300. Insufficient length checks
during the parsing of long parameters within the Accept-Language header
results in an exploitable stack overflow under the context of the SYSTEM
user.

Vendor Status:
A fix for the described issue is available in GroupWise Messenger 2.0
Public Beta 2. The fix will also be included in the shipping release of
Messenger 2.0 SP1. TID #NOVL105592 further details the specifics of the
patch:
