Then possibly your syntax is wrong.

Practical example copied directly from my running config and slightly 
anonymized:

DNAT     net       LAN:10.24.32.123:22       tcp     22123
DNAT     net       LAN:10.24.32.124:22       tcp     22124


These NAT incoming traffic on external port 22123 to internal host 
10.24.32.123 port 22, and so on.  So if I want to ssh from outside my 
own network to host 10.24.32.123 on my internal network (which I believe 
is exactly what you are trying to make work), I simply ssh to [external 
IP]:22123.
