i would suggest a formal analysis of the effects
of homogeneality against hetrogeneiality on
national and corporate security.

something similar to the paper published by ccia.

but with a more formal analysis of the situation
and less specific analysis of a particular
companies associated practices (i.e. just assume
the monoply instead of analysing the vendor tie in
and code size, complexity propblem)
