Worked for me on a RH 7.3 box  with  _exactly_  the  same  glibc  RPMs
aboard, linux.intel.libc6.glibc.2.2.tar installed (v3.76)  and  sophie
3.04rc2 (no options passed to configure).

Any chance you'd post the lines of config.log starting with:

configure:4067: checking for location of libsavi
