For what it's worth, the folks at Sophos seem to actively support the existence of Sophie and are happy to have it around. They pointed me to it and suggested I use it instead of rolling my own (which I have, for the most part quite happily). As a paying member of the Sophos community for rights to their API and toolkit, I can certainly lend that sort of support. As a perl-only developer (with limited time) I cannot do much on the Sophie coding support side though.
