problem with trend-update.pl 1.03 engine update

My trend-update.pl engine updates stopped working about a month ago, and
I can duplicate it with a fresh install:

I've tried deleting numver.dat/engine.txt to no avail.  I've also
manually updated the engine just now as I saw there was a new one and
the problem persists.
