Interesting Topic,

Maybe everyone should have you Good Samaritans perform their little jobs for
free. I hope you all have a long and prosperous life (and a full cooler of
beer).

Bottom line: People have choices
If they don't know how to do the work themselves they can have it done for
free by some willing party or take the job to someone who charges. Just
because you are willing to give away your time and provide services for free
doesn't mean everyone should. Let the market sort out who is correct.

In my opinion, if they want it for free they can open a book and figure out
how to do it themselves. I have plenty of repeat customers who understand
that my time is as valuable as theirs.

Thank goodness there are people like me that will do it for a 6pack (fixing
a virus) or a full case (complete back up and rebuild).

I would never think about "charging" to back up someones stuff... Its too
easy to back up (including the email PST files. Now if I had to host
storage for it and guarantee that the files were there... I can see being on
to something.
