Sam, Try disabling keepalives in the Nortel client (options, disable keepalives). I've seen this before and it helps most of the time. Usually I see the keepalives failing in a NAT environment (i.e. behind a broadband connection with a NAT router). It's also possible that BlackIce is blocking the keepalives in your case. The only functionality you're breaking by disabling the keepalives is the automatic failover (I think...).
