You can't resolve using a proxy. The domain must resolve with a DNS. 
The most robust way of fixing this is adding a local caching DNS 
server that only serves one (your "faked") zone. I use (on Windows) 
http://posadis.sourceforge.net/ but there are lots of other good and 
free DNS servers out there.

Or you could just modify your hosts file.
