Error: failed reading protocol version

Hello, searching the mailing list this error seems to have been
noticed in the past, but I could not find a clear answer/solution.

I have a setup with two Win PCs, a Zebedee server and a
Zebedee client that talk successfully each other when on the same LAN.

If I put them in "remote configuration" on two separate LANs with
routers in between, the error is fired.
 From the logs it is clear that the 11965 port is correctly
opened and forwarded at the router on the server side.

Just in case I did a similar forwarding at the router on the client side,
but nothing changed.

This is what happens on the client side:

the timestamps of the two PCs are slightly misalinged, but you can see the 
sequence

I have another setup where the remote configuration works, so it must be 
something
in this specific case, maybe one router or the other have special 
filters/settings,
but I can't figure out at all what to change.
