Category: Administrative functions Group: None Status: Open Priority: 5 Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Selfblocking Spambots Initial Comment: When an IP submits a comment that is being classified as spam, the score counter for that IP is incremented. When an IPs score counter surpasses a threshold, that IP is marked as a spambot IP in the database. A cron function or remote request triggers a script that will extract all spambot IPs and builds a .htaccess blacklist which will contain all currently blacklisted IPs. This will block spambots at the HTTP level greatly improving speed for the rest of the blog. Spambot IPs leave the blacklist after an inactivity of n hours automatically. 24hrs are suggested (auto-timeout of DSL dialup IPs). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=542825&aid=1494668&group_id=75065 ------------------------------------------------------- All the advantages of Linux Managed Hosting--Without the Cost and Risk!
