Category: Installer/Upgrader Group: None >Status: Pending >Resolution: Works For Me >Priority: 1 Submitted By: david buchmann (dbu) >Assigned to: Garvin Hicking (garvinhicking) Summary: Wrong error message with .htaccess Initial Comment: I use s9y 1.0-beta2 I copied the folder from an existing installation to make a new blog and uploaded the folder. The installer came up and i entered my stuff. But then he could not write .htaccess and wrote that i must chmod 777 the main directory. Which I did, but still it could not write. After some trying around, i found that i already had a .htaccess from the old installation, which was not writeable by the webserver. chmod 666 .htaccess fixed this. This is really just the wrong error message, but it could confuse people... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Garvin Hicking (garvinhicking) Date: 2006-07-24 07:29 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=473563 Sadly we cannot do much about it when files are not copied with the right permissions. The installer even told you it could not write to .htaccess, so in which regard could we make this better? :) Best regards, Garvin ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=542822&aid=1516514&group_id=75065 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
