Summary: POPfetcher: Posting New Entries by Email doesn't work

Initial Comment:
Hello everybody!!

I'm very interested in the possibility to Post New Entries by Email, I've installed the plugin POPfetcher in my system, but it doesn't work at all.

I've configured with this options:

Plugin Type: External
External Launch Name: popfetcher
author: webmaster
Mail Server: 159.23.98.66
Username: webmaster
Password: webmaster
Restrict e-mail sender:
Category:
Upload Directory : /doc/serendipity/mailattachments
Blog flag: Yes
Use plaintext attachments as entry body? No
First text attachment is entry body: No
Strip advertisements? No
Strip text after special string:
Strip HTML Tags from message: No
Define a string which separates body/extended parts:
Define a string which indicates the text to capture:
 Publish
Comments & trackbacks to this entry requires moderation: No
Allow comments to this entry: Yes
Delete flag: Yes
APOP flag: No
POP3 port: 110
Timeout:30

Then I try the link:
http://159.23.98.66/serendipity/index.php?/plugin/popfetcher/

but nothing is executed, the page is white

and the mail remains into webmaster box.

If I get the messages with the Thunderbird mail client, the mails arrives at the Thunderbird without problem, so, the problem is that serendipity doesn't give the mails.....

Anyone could help me? something is wrong in my configuration? Do I need to check anything?

I would be very gratefully if you could help me!!
Thanks a lot and best regards,

Maria

Hi!

Sadly the URL you gave here does not work for me, so I'm in the dark on
that issue. Does URL rewriting generally work on your blog?

Does the link
http://159.23.98.66/serendipity/index.php?/archives/15-prova-attach-doc.html
work in your blog?

Regards,
Garvin

I finally solved the problem changing the following:

Upload Directory : mailattach/
Blog flag: Yes
Use plaintext attachments as entry body? No
First text attachment is entry body: Yes
Strip advertisements? No
Strip HTML Tags from message: Yes

But now I've a problem with the attachments sendend via email.....
if I try with a txt file, it is posted as the body of the text in the
blog, it's ok, but if I try with a doc file, it's created a link:
http://159.23.98.66/serendipity/archives/15-prova-attach-doc.html

but this file doesn't exists!!

Do I need to change some configuration options?

Hi!

Did you try to use
http://159.23.98.66/serendipity/index.php?/plugin/popfetcher instead of
http://159.23.98.66/serendipity/index.php?/plugin/popfetcher/ ?

The ending slash is not configured in your external launch name, so it
might not "catch up".

Regards,
Garvin
