Sending E-Mails through an external SMTP host using SSL is not possible, connecting to the host failes.
Error is in line 148 of serendipity_event_smtpmail.php

Message:
I have it working , so I guess my provider has SSL support installed. The
error I got was a problem opening the connection.
You are right, it sets an object variable, but to the wrong value.
get_config('smtpmail_auth') stores the authentification method, and is
assigned to SMTPSecure, the encryption protocol.
the correct code (or at least the one that works for me) is:
$mail->SMTPSecure = $this->get_config('smtpmail_secure');
Cheers,
Holger

Message:
Did you enable SMTP auth?
Which error exactly do you get? Line 148 only sets an object varible.
Does your PHP have SSL support compiled in?

Garvin
