Assuming that reading is a kind of a "conversation...."

The challenge in terms of writing is one of restricting that conversation
to issues that the reader already knows about, or will know about soon.

Watching a DVD you haven't seen before in reverse scene order would make it
obvious enough.

That's a generalized description, but it's one that's recurred. At the same
time, it really isn't so terribly urgent. Most people know, as I myself
learned here, that man pages usually aren't written for newbies.

Of course, writing well by committee is always harder.
