So users of zsh and that software would have to properly scope the environment variable to use both.
via cmd() { local -x +h FPATH=whatever; command cmd "$@"; } or env FPATH=value cmd ...
It is still just a naming collision, collisions that occurred long after ksh/zsh's implementation of
FPATH to work like PATH, but with shell functions. which includes importing from the environment when it exist.
