Use case documents are now available

SourceID is pleased to announce the availability of several Federated 
Identity-related use case documents. These documents have recently been 
published by Ping Identity Corporation at

These use case documents are meant to provide a highly comprehensive, 
standards-independent view of how users, web applications, and web 
services interact within a federated environment.

The use cases currently provided are:

   * Single Sign-on User - Website users may authenticate with a service 
based on authentication with a different service
   * Locally Authenticate User - Website users may authenticate directly 
with one service in order to later single sign-on with others, or to 
perform tasks which enable single-sign on with other services. A 
service may also require local authentication as a security requirement 
for certain activities.
   * Global Log-out - Website Users may easily log out of all sessions 
created on services by single sign-on.
   * Federate Identities, Terminate Federation - Website users may 
control which services are available for single sign-in. This is done 
by configuring which of their identities on different services are 
federated.
   * Set Pseudonym - Services may request another service use a 
consistent identifier when discussing a website user, allowing services 
to converse about the website user.
   * Get Attribute - Services may retrieve or modify information about a 
website user by interacting directly with another service associated 
with a website user.
   * Request Access to Protected Information - Some trusted services may 
directly request confirmation from a website user that another service 
should be allowed access to information regarding the website user.
