Subject: ld Compiler Error

Hi!

I just installed DAP; I used to use SAS as a part of my job, so I'm
really excited for a FOSS version of SAS.

I've been getting an error compiling one of the example files, both as
two.sbs and two.c. The error I get is

/usr/bin/x86_64-linux-gnu-ld: <snip - could not copy>: relocation
R_X86_64_32S against undefined symbol 'dap_obs' can not be used when
making a PIE object; recompile with -fPIC

There are several other similar errors, all complaining about
recompiling with -fPIC.

Since it is a sample program, I don't think the error is with the code
that's copied-and-pasted.

Can you help?

Sincerely,
--
