Also, if something doesn't want to return the RAM, it really shouldn't be 
panicing but instead fail gracefully. The owner of the buffer (recording) 
didn't release it therefore USB now blows a gasket. As I recall, the current 
behavior was introduced with buflib_alloc_maximum().
