Doesn't make sense to me. I only get the USB cable on the screen when the computer has recognized that the player is connected. If you're using Windows, take a careful look at "My computer" to see if it is there, probably at the bottom. As far as I know, Rockbox only works when disconnected from the PC. When disconnected you might have to do a reboot. On Sansa products, with Rockbox that is done by holding down the power button for 20-30 seconds.
