You might try what I use on my iPod Video,
I use a bluetooth dongle that plugs into the headphone plug.
It happens to be a Plantronics, but lots of brands make them.
The one I use is an inch by half an inch by half an inch in size.
It works quite well for situations like what you want.
You might search the web for 
bluetooth transmitter

Some speakers, like bone conduction headsets by Aftershockz requires 
bluetooth to work. These headsets are absolutely perfect for bicycling 
without being def to ambient sound thus eliminating traffic incidents.

I do not find any Rockbox compatible bluetooth player though.

Can you please find a good candidate or is this already discussed on 
rockbox.org?
