FS#13664 - Crash when Fast Forwarding/Rewinding (wakeup_thread_) User who did this: iMpig (impig) Task details edited: ------- [edited to reflect the newest findings] **See discussion below, where errors point to: wakeup_thread_*** Hi, I've been listening to some (AAC-HE) encoded radio shows (problem not specific to one file). **Further testing shows that it also happens on MP3 files.** The problem occurs irregularly (and NEVER on a first FFWD/RWD) so I can't write an exact procedure to reproduce... but usually I'd start to play a 3h long radio show file from the beginning and then fast forward cca 1 hour (a fairly long press of the button). Then I'd do a series of short rewinds and fast forwards to find the start of the talking part of the show. Then it might crash. When hunting for this bug: Sometimes it crashes after a minute of testing the rewind/ffwd, sometimes after ~15 minutes. ===When it crashes:=== * It is while you're still holding FFWD/Rewind * Screen freezes. You notice that the "current time" is not changing although you are still holding the FFWD/RWD button. * If you release the FFWD/RWD button the playback doesn't return. * Buttons now do nothing. * BUT after the screen timeout comes (no key press for awhile), the player screen does fade out, AND it does react to button presses then to "wake" the screen back on... Then the screen is completely black (no skin background or icons) the only visible thing is the "currently playing" and "playing next" lines, which still scroll with correct info. * All buttons still do nothing. * Except: If I hold the power button it does turn off. There's no other way to "revive" the playback than to restart. ==Other, possibly unrelated things I noticed:== 1.) When you hold the FFD/RWD button for a while the screen blinks for a fraction of a second. But not in an interval, usually just once. Everything else is ok and afterwards there's no screen corruption. Just something that I've not noticed before. Also this does not indicate that the player will crash now.. the "blink" happens each time, but irregularly on long ffd/rwd. (old rockbox-xduoox3ii-20250529 does not blink but still crashes, so posiibly unrelated) 2.) Occasionaly while testing this I get a error message, see discussion below. I've not been able to figure out a reliable way to recreate this although it does happen if you try (and almost daily to me when I don't try). ==Confirmed crash on versions:== rockbox-xduoox3ii-20260521 Version: b5597a1c38-260520 rockbox-xduoox3ii-20250923 Version: aef5cec1ad-250923 Segmentation fault at 004811e0 address 0x59 rockbox.x3ii (rb_backtrace+0x44) [0x483 rockbox-xduoox3ii-20250917 rockbox-xduoox3ii-20250909 rockbox-xduoox3ii-20250905 rockbox-xduoox3ii-20250903 rockbox-xduoox3ii-20250902 rockbox-xduoox3ii-20250529 rockbox-xduoox3ii-20241216 (oldest tested) ------- More information can be found at the following URL: https://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/13664 You are receiving this message because you have requested it from the Flyspray bugtracking system.
