Along with my earlier suggestions to read both the 7.2 MTU and the 7.3 MTU
I have to add one other obscure document I found:
MTU Supplement for 7.2
https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/community/wikis/home?lang=en#!/wiki/IBM%20i%20Technology%20Updates/page/Memorandum%20To%20Users%20(MTU)%20Supplement

One of the classic lines from it:

Note: These behavior differences are not included within the MTU document
because these are thought to be obscure and rare differences in behavior.

A former coworker now at a different shop, running a different software
package from a different vendor was bitten by one of the things listed in
this MTU Supplement. Basically the way that the package involved used in
processing the INFDS on a file used with OPNQRYF changed when OPNQRYF
moved from CQE to SQE.
They had to get a patch from their vendor.
IDK if Infor uses any of the same logic in such a situation as this vendor
did.

Make sure to do some testing of OPNQRYF programs in a timely fashion.

Subject: [BPCS-L] Are there Compatibility Issues with OS V7R3 and
BPCS V4.0.02?
Sent by: "BPCS-L" <[email protected]>

Hi All,

I am working with a client who is running BPCS V4.0.02 on an iSeries OS
V7R1. They are planning to install OS V7R3 in April 2018.Is anyone aware
of any compatibility issues running BPCS V4.0.02 with OS V7R3? They are
not on support from Infor.
I searched for compatibility issues with BPCS and OS V7R3 andfound the
link below from IBM.
 https://www-03.ibm.com/support/techdocs/atsmastr.nsf/WebIndex/TD106408 There
are several IBM PTF’s that are referenced that should beinstalled for the
OS. Most apply to BPCSV6.1 and higher. However, there is onereference
below about BPCS secured programs that fail to convert starting atIBM OS
V6R1 and references BPCS V4.0.05 CD. They are on V4.0.02 which is
similar.

VariousBPCS and LX programs do not convert to V6R1 AffectedBPCS versions:
LX 8.3.0, 8.3.1, 8.3.2, 8.3.3, 8.2.00, 8.1.00, 8.0.00, 6.1.00,4.0.05 CD
Startingin IBM i 6.1 many secured source programs fail to convert to the
new operatingsystem because they are not observable. Obtain BMR 73619 and
BMR 73684 toinstall updated copies of these objects. A new license key is
required when installingBMR 73684.
They are already past that OS version since they are on OSV7R1. I believe
that they would have hadto install the BPCS BMR’s referenced when they
were still on Infor maintenanceand they installed a new iSeries 2 years
ago. A new key had to be installed. So, Ibelieve that they should be OK
since I don’t think that there are objectconversions from OS V7R1 to V7R3.
Thanks very much.
