Many people are using some sort of email reader to process multiple accounts. Examples may include:
Ralph @ gmail.com
Ralph_thislist @ gmail.com
Ralph_thisotherlist @ gmail.com
Ralph @ someotherdomain.com

And they subscribe to a list as ralph_thislist @ gmail.com to see if the list is a spammer. I respect your paranoia and I'm fine with that. However when you send an email to the list it must come from ralph_thislist @ gmail.com or it will be rejected. So, if in the above example, your email reader reads all those accounts but always sends as ralph @ gmail.com the email will be rejected.
