I only have 256 MB of Ram. When I run WDS it uses 500 MB of Ram. I think you are right about the XP thing. I'm trying to build a case to my superior to get me a new PC. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, August 14, 2003 8:14 AM To: CODE/400 Discussion & Support Subject: Re: Performance increase with PC upgrade Well, I think part of the problem is running XP on an PIII. How much ram do you have? An increase may help. I have a 1.8 GHZ P4 with 1GB of ram running W2K Pro. I use WDSC 5.0 and other than the long (1 min +) startup time, my performance is excellent. Even when running five 5250 sessions and the Notes client. Among other things. YMMV Thanks, Mark Mark D. It takes about 2 minutes to start WDS and response after that is slow. Also if I am running any other applications they are equally as slow. I have a 530 MHZ PIII with a 10GB hard drive with XP Pro installed. From what I've read my PC isn't really suited for running WDS. Can anyone tell me what sort of performance increase I will see if I get a new PC? I'd have to imagine anything new will be fine, but will I see a big performance increase?
