I'm pretty sure I just had exactly the same problem you're experiencing. I solved it by going to Start/Programs/IBM Websphere Studio Client for iSeries/Communications/Define Server Logon. That gave me a window showing my logon name; when I selected it, the "Change" button became activated. I simply clicked that button and put in my new password.
