Which brings you to the point that you're loosing valuable company time (and money) by just waiting, waiting... and waiting. I also worked for such a company, and as long as they didn't get an invoice for the cost it was all ok. BTW, people within a company have different needs... a secretary doing Word with a PIV 3.0 GHz is ridiculuos.

This is an issue of company versus home use... I don't think people should spend money on company machines. A police isn't asked to bring his own gun neither. If you want to stay ahaid, and play/work at home it is another discussion (however, one that's in the intrest of your boss as well)

No matter who's spending money... WDSC remains a demanding piece of software which would be a shame that it got dropped like OS/2 (just to demanding in it's time context). Even more, the fact that it is writtin in Java, but only runs on Windows (at least the iSeries related stuff) makes it a lost opportunity for me (they'd better wrote it in C++ in that case - cost/benefit you know).
