Re: Will Verse on premises be available on IBM i? If so, when?

I hope so too.
However I am thinking that he's looking at setting a Domino server on 
Windows will allow us to fill another need.  We use IBM Security Identity 
Manager (ITIM) to sync passwords between Windows, Domino, IBM i.  It has 
to talk to a Domino server.  However the one we currently has an outage 
every week late on Saturday evening.  Apparently that's a popular time to 
change passwords and the ITIM agent doesn't fail over to another Domino 
server.  I thought about using another IBM i based Domino server but that 
often just shifts the window around.  With Windows servers the maintenance 
(or lack thereof) on them is not my problem.  I did contact IBM about ITIM 
not failing over and basically got the "cry me a river, why don't you" 
response.
In summary, I suspect my boss may not pursue this so hard.

I really hope your boss sends that email and explains the significant 
investment your company has in IBM per their investment in the IBM i 
platform. This is more than just their collaboration solutions, and I'm 
not certain they are looking at it this way.

Thank you. I am copying your reply on to my boss and he may pursue this 
further.  He carries more weight.

As we have 7 lpars of IBM i spread out over three Power 8's and these 
lpars are dedicated solely to running our Domino app's I find this a great 


concern to us.

Official word from IBM is "We are formulating our Verse On-Premises 
roadmap for 2017 now. We will take this under consideration, but there are 



no guarantees that we will release VOP on IBMi. We will be publically 
announcing our 2017 VOP roadmap at Connect 2017."

I highly recommend you email Barry Rosen (barry_rosen-r/[email protected]) and 
Scott Souder (scott_souder-r/[email protected]) asking to have VOP supported on the 



IBM i.  They will ask the number of seats you have.

I wish IBM would see the bigger picture of how businesses run most of 
their company on the platform and how incredibly efficient it is compared 
to running on other platforms. 

If you decide to email Barry and Scott, I'd be interested to see what you 
hear back.
