Don't know about the development.
As far as using Notes to read Office, or vice-versa, IDK. The fiasco with Power 9's and Domino killed using Domino for email here and so I lost any interest in keeping track of using Notes to read Office, or vice-versa.

I think it's changed a bit since I last used it.
Doesn't Notes also have a built-in Office component now ?
