Running Workspace and Performance Analyzer through VM

We are updating to Aurora and we're adding several of the other business packages to the mix. We've been told that Workspace and Performance Analyzer need to run on their own servers. This make 3-4 servers we'll need to run our business, including a new IBM Power Server. Has anyone tried or is running theses Wintel products through some VMware? I'm thinking this sure would be less complicated. Also can someone give me a clue about server sizing for these products and maybe some insights? Thanks.
