I'm not a System21 user nor am I familiar with its functionality but I have
been associated with manufacturing systems for many years - going back to
the dawn of MRP.  From that base of experience I have an observation to
offer.

Typically SLOB facilities are looking at the past.  What really is important
is the future demand.  Specifically is the part, regardless of its BOM
level, required by the forecasted or booked but unshipped demand.

Think about a new product released just this month.  Parts for the new
product and some finished items are on the shelf but not one has sold.  All
the items associated with the new product will show zero requirements for
the past 13 months but are forecasted to have increasing requirements over
the next 18 months.

Good afternoon.

Could you advise me please as to whether Sys21 has a SLOB (Slow-moving/
Obsolete) identification facility. I am concerned that whilst we transfer a
lot of data to Excel spreadsheets for various tasks, we have no formal
process to cover this very important component of inventory control.

I am hoping you can point me to a program within Sys21 specifically geared
for this aspect.

Advice appreciated.
